The Baltimore-based sports apparel maker Under Armour launched its brand in India this week with an online presence on Amazon Fashion.
They will now be available to and selling to Indian consumers through a dedicated Amazon Brand Store, where it is offering more than 330 styles of clothing and footwear in running and training categories. Amazon Fashion clearly notes that this is an exclusive deal and Under Armour will be available exclusively to Indians through Amazon only. The online portal accepts the importance of Sportswear and explains how the same is an incredibly strong category for them and Amazon is growing at 70 percent year-over-year because of lifestyle changes in India that have spurred demand from almost all quarters.
Under Armour sees untapped potential in the global market and has been expanding in places such as China and Brazil too. Expanding to India represents a milestone for the brand, Andy Donkin, Under Armour’s global chief marketing officer, mentioned the same while making an official announcement. Under Armour’s international sales jumped 55 percent during the last three months of the 2016 fiscal year and now make up 16 percent of sales.
Great post and thank you for the reminder.
