For Spring/Summer 2016 Bordelle pays homage to a pioneering and remarkable woman. A woman who rose above her physical trauma and emotional pain and channelled her experiences into a creative, liberal, unapologetic and empowering way of living. For those of you who don’t know about her, Frida Kahlo was a famous Mexican painter known for her self-portraits. She was the kind of confident woman known to dress to please no one but herself.

The brand transitions from it’s conventional kink inspired lingerie with this new collection that is colourful, rich and vibrant. Although the ‘kink’ still lies in their strappy work infused in each piece. Each element drawn from Frida’s style and art are reworked into the collection through the adoption of a palette of contrasting shades of indigo with gold and fuchsia. Vivid colours feature highly, some pieces being tailored in bright blues, purples and even plumb, few are left monochrome.

The collection is subdivided into ranges carrying her many names and constructed from Swiss fabrications of embroidered Mexican lace, gold lurex flower motifs and pleated perforated lace with a vintage effect reminiscent of the frill edge used in traditional Tijuana costumes.
The look is both vintage and fresh, with rich textures. Lace is key to the overall look of the range. Satins, silk and mesh used to embellish delicate looking lace work. This new collection is like a sunshine of appetizers which is hard to resist.
