Wearing lingerie can do wonders for one’s self-confidence, making one feel sexy and sultry just from putting on a matching pair. In fact, a survey revealed that wearing matching lingerie was among the top things that make women feel sexy, right alongside a glowing tan and a new haircut. The right kind of lingerie can make you feel like a whole new woman — provided that you know how to choose the right lingerie.

While it’s important to buy a design that you like, it’s no less important to buy a design that is suited for you and your body shape. Not to worry, however, as there are many different kinds of lingerie to choose from, made from different fabrics as well, so you should have no trouble finding a pair that suits your style and body type.

Pear Shape

A pear-shaped body is actually among the most common body types, characterized by hips and a backside wider than the shoulders. The trick here is to accentuate the curve of your body, so smaller on top and bigger on the bottom will work. Go with babydolls, robes, and chemises to achieve the sexy look you desire.

Upside-down Pear Shape

If you’re wider at the top than at the bottom, then you need to play on your positive features and find something that will accentuate your bustline. Upside-down pears look lovely in bustiers, camisoles and cami sets, as these will draw more attention to your breasts.

Short Torso

If you’ve got a short torso and your legs are extra long, the best thing to do is to try to create the illusion of an elongated torso by wearing low-rise underwear. You should try hipsters as an alternative to the usual low-rise bikini, as the added fabric will help elongate your line as well.

Long Torso

On the other hand, if you’ve got a longer torso and shorter legs, you’ll need to do a bit of covering up. Luckily, this should be no problem, as the best style for you is currently in season: high-waisted underwear. Complete the retro look by finding a printed bottom and matching it with a black bra.

The most important thing to remember is to figure out what your best features are, and accentuate them, or try to find a way to work around the features you’d like to hide.
