Candiani SpA bags the ITMA sustainable innovation award

The Italian textile company, Candiani SpA has won the ITMA sustainable innovation award at the leading textile and garment exhibition, ITMA 2019, held in Barcelona, Spain for its innovative product, Candiani ReGen, a circular denim fabric created from regenerated and recycled raw materials.

Fifty per cent of the ReGen fabric comprises of Tencel x Refibra Lyocell made of cotton scraps pulp using Lenzing’s closed loop process, while the other fifty per cent comprises of post industrial recycled fibres. Candiani fabrics are also dyed using green technologies, resulting in a significant reduction in use of water and chemicals in the fabric production and denim washing process.

The fabric was created to commemorate the company’s 80th anniversary. According to Alberto Candiani, President of Candiani SpA, the company leveraged Lenzing’s Tencel Lyocell fibres with Refibra technology and combined it with their in-house expertise to create an innovative product that is fashionable and environment-friendly at the same time.
