CoolVisions, a maker of the first dyeable polypropylene staple fibre, has introduced new CoolVisions dyeable polypropylene filament to enhance functional attributes and aesthetic of the high performance textiles.

Produced in Thailand by parent company Indorama Ventures (IVL), The eco-friendly blends of polypropylene and polyester are engineered with the quick-drying, highly breathable CoolVisions polypropylene filament against the skin.

Sophisticated functional fibres:

Functional fibres with appealing aesthetics, ease of handling, and a sustainable profile are quite in demand now,  explained Susan Lynn, Global Sales and Marketing Manager, CoolVisions dyeable polypropylene, and US Marketing Manager, FiberVisions.

The new dyeable filament, currently available as 70/72 POY and textured versions, brings these desirable qualities to the table, along with polypropylene’s inherent properties such as moisture management and low moisture regain, thermal regulation, durability, bleach and stain resistance, and improved coverage at a lower weight, she further explained.

Product line

The dyeable filament is offered in two versions: CoolVisions Standard for light to medium dyes and CoolVisions Dark, which achieves deeper shades with less dyestuff on dark colours. Both products deliver 2A wash fastness with the use of high energy disperse dyes, the company reports. IVL has recently doubled its capacity for the dyeable polypropylene filament, with plans in the works for 150 and 300 denier versions.

Development of additional fabrics for the outdoor and active brands using CoolVisions dyeable polypropylene filament is currently underway.
