Snapdeal, India’s largest online marketplace in terms of sellers, launched its brand-new multi-lingual interface on its mobile site on Tuesday, designed to enable consumers to shop online in their preferred languages.
The SoftBank, Foxconn and Alibaba Group-backed online marketplace’s mobile user interface will now be available in Hindi and Telugu. Additionally, the e-commerce major will add nine other regional languages, including, Gujarati, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Assamese and Punjabi, by January 26 next year.
The decision to develop a multi-lingual interface, according to Bansal, came after receiving significant feedback from Snapdeal customers.
The newly-launched multi-lingual platform has been built on top of Snaplite, the New Delhi-based company’s website for mobile browser, which claims to be 85 per cent lighter and consumes less bandwidth.
