Wacoal sells off Huit

Wacoal Europe has announced that it has finally sold off the lingerie and swimwear brand Huit to Trendy Capital, owner of French nightwear brand Canat.

In 2012, Japanese innerwear, apparel and textiles giant Wacoal Holdings Corp. bought Eveden Group, the then parent of Eveden Huit, which was founded in 1968. That was two years after Eveden Group acquired bankrupt Huit Diffusion, owner of Huit.

This decision of selling out Huit has been made in line with Wacoal Europe’s strategy to grow its fuller bust business to expand its European and international presence.


When enquired on their decision to sell off the Huit business, Wacoal Europe mentioned that despite investing heavily in trying to improve Huit’s success since it bought the business out of administration in 2010, a ‘highly saturated competitor market’ has meant the business has resisted any significant growth.

Wacoal Europe Chief Executive Geoff Embley also mentioned how difficult has the process of deciding on and finally detaching themselves from  brand Huit has been for them.

Trendy Capital acquired Huit on July 9 after fending off competition from several other interested parties Under the new ownership, Huit will be known as Huit France.

Wacoal Europe will now continue to support the Huit business for the next two seasons across all of its markets to ensure a smooth transition including the UK, Eire, USA, Canada, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany and its distributors in Asia. But the seniors for Wacoal believe that this dissociation will be a long term favourable situation, so even though it was a hard choice, they have finally taken it for the benefit of the brands and the market.
