Shoppers can now afford to be more indulgent, thanks to i-Retail, an app that helps save time spent at billing counters of retail and department stores. The app scans barcodes of the selected items even as a person decides to buy them, making billing a breeze.

The i-Retail idea dawned upon Deepak Kaushik when he saw his pregnant wife wait in long queues at billing counters, every time she stepped out to shop.

A former IBM employee, Deepak worked for one year to programme this system. Deepak and his friend Amar Revadi, a former Citigroup employee, built the market-ready app in 2013. In 2015, the duo founded Xlogix that has come out with two products -i-Retail and e-Receipts. The app will reduce waiting time or total shopping time by 60%. For now, the company has partnered with point-ofsale (PoS) developers for the technology which will be deployed across the country in one of India’s leading retail chains.
