The corsetry-inspired line of intimates is a celebration of the body in motion
After canceled travel plans and shuttered vacation destinations, travelers everywhere are yearning to return to sunny locales and soak in some much-needed sun. Looking to that travel-filled future is Italian luxury label La Perla, whose delicate Spring/Summer 2022 collection is sure to delight voyagers and beach lovers alike.
Titled ‘Ballet Blanc,’ the dynamic line of intimates and swimwear looks to movement and the body as sartorial inspiration. “A celebration of self-confidence and an ode to the art of the body in motion,” the brand said of the collection. “From delicate lingerie to romantic separates and extraordinary swimwear, each piece is designed with a spirit of freedom and movement in mind.”
A muted pair of white swim sets open the collection— a high-cut, layered one-piece and a lace-infused bikini—that re-up this season’s focus on function and action. Subtle splashes of color—salmon, navy, beige, cream—work their way into the collection while the label’s knack for shaping the female figure remains on full display throughout.
Not only looking at the body, but the newly released collection also taps into silhouettes synonymous with 18th-century corsetry and intimates. Though the rigidity of yesteryear’s shape-wear is shunned, the collection’s cut-out coverups, paneled briefs, and dynamic separates maintain a similar body-hugging effect achieved through age-old corsetry.
Lucious textiles—Italian tulle, cotton, silk, and lace—are ubiquitous throughout the collection and are seen in conversation with floral and sprawling motifs. The collection features a trio of lines: the swimwear ‘Etoile’ line, the ‘Like a Butterfly’ intimates offerings, and the ‘Outset’ range composed of flowing embroidery and breathable tulle. The ideal summer-ready wardrobe.
