Nike Sportswear Range

Nike declared ‘size doesn’t matter’ as it launched its first ever plus-size range with a campaign that celebrates the diversity of women’s bodies. The faces of the new line include bloggers Grace Victory and Danielle Vanier, models Paloma Elsesser and Naomi Shimada and US track and field athlete Amanda Bingson.

The women’s plus-size collection features sports clothes – including tops, tights, hoodies, shorts and sports bras – in sizes from 1X to 3X. The new line marks a change in direction for the brand.  Although Nike has been selling plus-size products for the last ten years, generally its women’s clothes do not go above an extra-large.

Until last year – when the company’s sports bra campaign featured Elsesser and yoga instructor Claire Fountain – ads for the brand have typically featured ‘straight’-sized models. Prices for the new line, which is now on sale in stores and online, range from $32 for dry tempo running shorts to $175 for the hyper shield running jacket.
