michelle_moneFailure is more than a stepping stone along the path of
Entrepreneurship. It turns wits to dead halt at times ,thereby
hindering the potential of revolutionary ideas in facilitating the
economy. Realizing this tread in its milieu, the government of
UK has marked the basic barriers to entrepreneurship in the
country. It includes a lack of business and social networks, and
a lack of inspiring role models. In its resort to it, Iain Duncan
Smith, the work and pensions secretary, has assigned
Michelle Mone, the founder of Ultimo Lingerie, to review the
ways to support new business start-ups in areas with high
unemployment rates. Her review will target those who face the
most obstacles in disadvantaged communities.

Having been an award winning entrepreneur herself, the former lingerie model Ms. Mone has been asked to relate her experiences of creating a start-up. “A truly modern and successful economy needs to be able to unleash the entrepreneurial energy or skills of everyone in society.” stated Ms. Mone. She mentioned her method of the review. “I’ll be travelling across the UK to talk to and listen to people and groups from all backgrounds. I want to learn about the barriers they are facing and what changes are needed.

The 43-year old Scottish businesswomen has been working with Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). She has been given a seat in the House of Lords and will report her findings next year. She says “I have always been Labour through and through. But I think the Conservatives did inherit a really bad business five years ago, and I think they’ve done a hell of a good job.” she believes her philosophy as “it does not matter where you are from, what education you have, or if you are from an affluent background or not, you can make it if you work hard, set your goals and never give up”.

Smith comments “I am delighted Michelle has agreed to lead this review. There’s no one I can think of that’s better qualified to help young entrepreneurs from deprived backgrounds to turn a good idea into a flourishing business. We used to be known as a nation of shopkeepers. I want Michelle to report back to me on how we can encourage people of all backgrounds to take up this entrepreneurial spirit.”
