A new mannequin that can alter its shape to any set of measurements is set to fix online shopping’s sizing problem for good.
Imagine being able to buy a pair of jeans or one of the latest dresses at your favourite fashion shop, without ever leaving the comfort of your home. All you would have to do is pick out the style from an online catalogue, send in your measurements, then have your purchase delivered straight to your door. Best of all, it’s a perfect fit.
This scenario isn’t far off in the distant future, thanks to an ingenious device created by Dr Allan Chan, Associate Professor of the Institute of Textiles and Clothing and his team at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
At its first glance, the mannequin ‘i.Dummy’ looks no different from an ordinary dummy but it is no plain. This sophisticated mannequin can change its body shape and size or even elongate at the point of a fingertip on computer.
Understanding the new fitting revolution has come, Winswin acquired the technology, refined and brings it into the market.
Applying advanced mechatronics technology as the platform of mannequin development, Dr Allan Chan and his team members collected massive anthropometric data from worldwide population, as well as actual body scales from 3D Body Scanner, to create I.DUMMY’s universal body scales and sizes.
